چکیده
The kinetics of the simultaneous syntheses ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE) and butyl (BTBE) over Amberlyst™ 35 (A35) has been studied at 315–353 K in liquid phase. Different kinetic modeling approaches—namely, empirical power-law modeling, mechanistic based on Langmuir-Hinshelwood-Hougen-Watson (LHHW) Eley-Rideal (ER) formalisms, information-based modeling—have compared. Empirical equations yield optimal quality fit, whereas can explain mechanisms reactions. best equation for both reactions corresponds to an ER-type mechanism which alcohol molecule (ethanol or 1-butanol) is adsorbed one active site reacts with isobutene from solution produce corresponding (ETBE BTBE), desorbs. A model built previous data used check validity inferred mechanism, while significantly reducing number adjustable parameters model.

Predicted and experimental crystal structures of ethyl-tert-butyl ether.
Possible crystal structures of ethyl-tert-butyl ether (ETBE) were predicted by global lattice-energy minimizations using the force-field approach. 33 structures were found within an energy range of 2 kJmol(-1) above the global minimum. Low-temperature crystallization experiments were carried out at 80-160 K. The crystal structure was determined from X-ray powder data. ETBE crystallizes in C2/m,...
متن کاملMethyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) bioremediation studies
The massive production of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), a primary constituent of reformulated gasoline, combined with its mobility, persistence and toxicity, makes it an important pollutant. It was considered recalcitrant until a few years ago, but recently MTBE biodegradation in aerobic conditions has been demonstrated with both mixed and pure cultures. Mixed cultures are generally the more ...
متن کاملRapid Biodegradation of Methyl tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) by Pure Bacterial Cultures
Two pure bacterial strains capable of rapid degrading methyl tert–butyl ether (MTBE) were isolated from an industrial wastewater treatment plant, identified and characterized. These strains are able to grow on MTBE as the sole carbon and energy sources and completely mineralize it to the biomass and carbon dioxide. The strains were identified as Bacillus cereus and Klebsiella terrigena. Bot...
متن کاملDegradation and Removal of Methyl tert-Butyl Ether
Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) has been used in many countries as an octaneenhancing replacement for lead, primarily in midand high-grade gasoline. The prevalent use of MTBE has led to its introduction into environment. MTBE is poorly adsorbed, biologically and chemically stable, making it very persistent in the environment. MTBE has been classified as a possible human carcinogen. Many studies ...
متن کاملTransport of methyl tert-butyl ether through alfalfa plants.
Concentrations measured in alfalfa plant stem segments indicated that plants grown in methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE)-contaminated soil took up the chemical through their roots. Assuming a cylindrical shape for the plant stem, a mathematical model was developed to describe the transport of MTBE through the stems. Simulation results from uniform and nonuniform initial concentration distributions ...
